'State Govt Opening New Universities Blindly'
JAIPUR: The All Rajasthan Universities Teachers Association (ARUTA) has accused their state government of blindly opening new universities while ignoring the introduction of the prevailing universities.
ARUTA represents an area of teachers from all state universities.
BD Rawat, president of ARUTA, said: "Just about all universities are running with under 40% teachers. A student-teacher ratio in certain universities is approximately 300 students into a teacher."
ARUTA also raised concerns over the decades-old curricula, poor infrastructure, ill-equipped laboratories and libraries. "Pumping crores in new universities at the same time in the event the RU's chemistry department building collapsed as a result of heavy rain is very illogical," said Rawat.
The teachers body accused Rajasthan University of not following a court orders to award career advancement scheme (CAS) to 272 teachers regularized in 2008. "The top court has ordered the teachers be granted CAS gains advantage from the date of appointment," said Rawat.
